Hawaii Trailer Registration

Hawaii Trailer Registration

July 04, 2022

Regardless of whether you're basking in the beauty of Maui, exploring the vibrant life of Oahu, immersing in the tranquility of Molokai, enjoying the serenity of Lanai, adventuring on the Big Island, or discovering the lush landscapes of Kauai, the process of registering your new trailer remains the same. Here are the three steps you need to follow:

1. Begin by taking your trailer, Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO), Bill of Sale, current vehicle registration, and insurance to a Safety Inspector certified by the State of Hawaii.

2. Once you've obtained your Safety Certificate from the inspector, proceed to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Present your Pono Trailers’ MSO and Bill of Sale along with the Safety Certificate. After settling the necessary state fees, you will be issued a license plate and registration for your trailer.

3. Finally, return to your original safety inspector with your trailer, now equipped with the new license plate and registration, as well as your vehicle registration and insurance. The inspector will then provide you with a valid safety certificate.

By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for your new trailer.
